New Focus – Breast Cancer Awareness Month is October
Summer is over and The Matcha Box Pop-up Shop is behind us. It’s time to shift focus and move on to other matcha tea topics – this time it’s health benefits derived from green tea’s powerful little antioxidant known as EGCg. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month I will be posting here on topics specifically related to wellness through nutrition. I am not a nutritionist or MD. I operate from the same google keyword searches the rest of the world does. But the subject is important to me. Breast cancer runs in my immediate family, my extended family and in the immediate family of dear friends. In fact, I am pretty sure that anyone reading this post knows not one, but even more, women who have been touched by this disease. I read a statistic that said one in 8 women in America will be diagnosed with this breast cancer in their life time. One in eight! Now think of all the amazing women in your life and contemplate that figure.
In the preface to his book, The Breast Cancer Prevention Diet, Dr. Bob Arnot talks about practical preventive measures available for common modern illnesses – i.e. condems for AIDS, and statins for lowered cholesteral to prevent heart disease. But breast cancer stood alone with no practical preventive measures. Until, researchers turned their attention to diet, nutrition and lifestyle. With proper nutrition women (and men) can likely prevent the disease from occuring altoghether.
My point is this – weather you agree or not in the power of nutritional to prevent disease and heal the body, a good diet won’t hurt. It’s certainly worth knowing about. And let’s face it – food is a lot kinder to your body than drugs.
