Good News – “Let Food Be Thy Medicine” Really Works

My mother called ecstatic over her blood test. Her cholesterol levels were completely within normal range. She and I share a genetic predisposition to very high lipids  – way way over range.  She started trimming away the carbs about a year ago and achieved totally normal cholesterol without medication.  We celebrated over dinner at a Greek restaurant near the store. “No bread, meat, cheese, rice and wine” for us.  The waiter nodded, unphased – it’s LA after all.

We feasted on humous, eggplant, butter beans and grilled fish served with asparagus and dandelions.
